Friends, family mourn loss of Leominster Health Director Jeffrey Stephens
Community figure made mark throughout region
LEOMINSTER — The city lost an invaluable asset and a wealth of knowledge in the passing of Health Director Jeffrey Stephens, who leaves behind a legacy of public service that spans well over two decades.
The 1990 Fitchburg High School graduate was just 50 years old when he died on Aug. 11 “surrounded by his loving family… after a long and valiant struggle with a serious illness,” his obituary read.
According to a GoFundMe set up for his family that has raised over $17,500, Stephens had recently spent time in an ICU, in critical condition, following an aneurysm in his spleen.
