MHOA Weekly Newsletter

I’m writing to you today from the Massachusetts Municipal Association conference where I’m representing MHOA and joined the other six Coalition for Local Public Health organizations to present a booth highlighting the work you all do.
We took an interactive approach- offering hands only CPR demonstration, naloxone kits with instruction, inspector tools, tick removal kits and more, including countless conversations about the impact local public health has in communities and how to connect.
Telling local public health stories, networking and connection are as important as ever. We’re heading into state budget season with the Governor releasing her budget next week. We’re advocating for $15 million for public health in Massachusetts this year, and we’re going to need everyone’s help to make that happen.
At the federal level, NACCHO working on our behalf, including sending Action Alerts about the federal budget and specific needs like funding the Public Health Workforce Loan Repayment program. These alerts are an easy way to get involved by contacting your elected officials.
I want to hear your stories to help advocate on your behalf at the state and federal level. Please get in touch - the more you share, the more we can do to advocate for local public health - tkett@mhoa.com
