We're debuting a couple of new weekly newsletter features this week. First, you'll see an Upcoming Events calendar highlighting our next three events. And just below that, we are featuring sponsored space for organizations to advertise relevant content to our members. We'll always clearly differentiate sponsored content from MHOA developed content. Offering sponsored space helps MHOA meet its strategic plan goal of diversifying its funding sources. Over the coming months, we'll continue to make newsletter adjustments based on feedback and ease of use for our members. If you have thoughts, feel free to share!
Are you in study mode this spring? MHOA purchased additional Registered Environmental Health Specialist/Registered Sanitarian exam study guides for our lending library. We loan books by mail on a first come, first served basis. The REHS study guide is definitely our most popular title, but there are many other interesting reads. Now is a great time to borrow, and you can plan to return in person at our May 16 quarterly meeting!
Looking for a new show? Public health is featured in a new documentary on PBS, The Invisible Shield. The trailer begins, "Public health saved your life today, but you didn't even know it." The four-part series "examines how public health makes modern life possible, but it is underfunded, undervalued and misunderstood, putting our health at risk." The Invisible Shield is available to stream on the PBS app or at pbs.org
Next week is National Public Health Week! The Academic Public Health Corps has you covered with social media graphics. And we hope you'll check out The Public Health Museum's virtual local public health forum next Friday, April 5 at 10 am. "Housing as a Public Health Issue" will be moderated by Harold Cox. Commissioner Robbie Goldstein of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health will join a panel of local public health and community representatives, including MHOA Board Members Natasha Waden (Arlington) and Regina Hanson (Boston). Register here.
